UNIVERSITY STUDENT STABBED

A 19-year-old University student was stabbed to death in Manchester on Wednesday night. Officers from the Greater Manchester Police tried to administer CPR but unfortunately the young man died later in hospital. The student was in the popular student area Fallowfield when the stabbing happened.

Detective Superintendent Neil Jones said that officers are working around the clock to work out what happened and catch the killer.

"This was a terrible crime which has robbed a young man of his life, and my thoughts are with his family at this devastating time,"he added.

"We are actively pursuing leads and will relentlessly pursue the offender to ensure they are brought to justice."

More police have been deployed to patrol student areas, and additional forces with be sent to Fallowfield and the surrounding areas on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights.
