BY VICTORIA WADLEY
Families of the affected took them for treatment at a local government-run hospital, who have reported the deaths. It is stated that the victims began vomiting on Tuesday, with their conditions further deteriorating overnight with several people dying on the way to the hospital .
A local police officer Santosh Kumar said confirmed that 20 of the hospitalised victims have lost their eyesight. He continued: 'We have arrested 126 people in the last 48 hours after the incident was reported.'
Alcohol is banned in several Indian states, after women's groups campaigned against poor workers using most of their incomes on booze. This has lead to a huge growth in illegal alcohol sales on the black market, which are commonly laced with dangerous chemicals or fertiliser.
