RAIL STRIKES MOVED

A Network Rail workers strike has been re-arranged to avoid clashing with the Royal British Legion's London Poppy Day appeal.

The Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) said its Network Rail members would strike on 5, 7 and 9 November.

The union, having been made aware that there was a poppy appeal on the 3rd of November, changed their planned strike action that day and had it moved to the 9th.

The appeal will aim to raise £1m in a day and up to 2,000 volunteers fundraise for the cause.

The RMT has said it will continue its industrial campaign until it reaches a negotiated settlement on job security, pay and working conditions. This follows months of strikes for the rail services and they look to continue until a fair resolution is met.
