JUST STOP OIL STRIKES AGAIN

OCT 25, 2022  (8H12)      JAMES SMITH
Two supporters of the group Just Stop Oil have covered a waxwork model of King Charles lll with a chocolate cake, the latest in a string of protests.
The climate activists want the government to stop all new gas and oil licenses and consents.

The pair, named as Eilidh McFadden, 20, and Tom Johnson, 29, stepped over the barrier at the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum in London on Monday morning and smeared cake all over the model of the king.

The pair released a statement saying:
"We are here because we seek to protect our freedoms and rights, because we seek to protect this green and pleasant land which is the inheritance of us all."

They continued with:
"The science is clear. The demand is simple: just stop new oil and gas. Its a piece of cake."

A tweet sent out from the Metropolitan police said:
"We responded quickly to an incident at Madame Tussauds after two people threw food at a statue at approximately 10:50hrs. They have both been arrested for criminal damage."

The force later confirmed they had arrested a further two people.

This was the latest in headline making protests. Previously some activists have glued themselves on to the famous abbey road crossing. There has also been more food related instances with two protesters throwing tins of tomato soup over a Van Gogh painting.

Others have even scaled the Queen Elizabeth ll bridge (60m) above the Dartford crossing, forcing the bridge to close for 36 hours and causing up to six-hour delays around much of the M25.
