DAVID TENNANT RETURNS AS DOCTOR WHO

The former doctor made a shock return as the time lord in the 90 minute episode that aired Sunday evening. Tennant played the iconic doctor between 2005 and 2010 and had great success in the role, eventually stepping aside for Matt Smith to take over.

It comes as Jodie Whittaker's 4 year stint as doctor who ends. When she took over the role back in 2017, she became the first female doctor in the show's history and she now bows out in a surprising twist.


Tennant appearing wasn't the only shock as many faces from previous iterations of the doctor showed up including, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, and Paul McGann. We also got our first glimpse of Ncuti Gatwa as the new doctor, he appeared very briefly on screen for next season's trailer saying


The sex education star will be taking on the doctor who role once Tennant's suspected 3 episodes are up and he will be the first black actor to ever take on the role.
