Police search Birmingham garden for remains of missing child

POLICE SEARCH BIRMINGHAM GARDEN FOR REMAINS OF MISSING CHILD

The garden of a house in Clarence Road, Handsworth, is being excavated by West Midlands police as they search for a body after being given information about the death of a child there in 2020.

Two people have been arrested, a man, aged 40 and a woman, aged 41.

They have not been named yet, but they have been charged with the offences of neglect, and of causing or allowing the death of a child.

The people who currently live at the house are not involved.


West Midlands Police said that the man has been remanded after his court appearance today, whereas the woman has not yet appeared in court.

Detective Inspector Joe Davenport from the Public Protection Unit has explained the enquires are ongoing and are based on information received.

"I understand that this will come as a shock to the local community but I would ask you not to speculate on the circumstances"
