JAKE PAUL BEATS MMA LEGEND

BY JAMES SMITH
Youtuber turned boxer Jake Paul beat MMA icon Anderson Silva by unanimous decision in their 8-round boxing match last night. Paul, competing in his 6th pro fight, faced the biggest step up in competition in Silva, who although a veteran at 47, still managed to cause the younger man a few problems in their fight. But ultimately an 8th round knockdown for Paul secured the victory on the scorecards. Paul had this to say on the win:

"Man it's a surreal moment but hard work pays off". "I want to say thank you to Anderson, he inspired me to be great. Without him, we wouldn't have a fight this year. I have nothing but respect for him. I started boxing two and a half years ago and I've just beaten one of the best strikers ever."

The Spider Anderson caused Paul a few problems with his movement and combinations and was landing uppercuts in the clinch, however Jake who had started targeting the body early was slightly busier and in the 8th he landed his powerful right hand to knock Silva to the canvas. He managed to get up and see the round out but the damage had been done. Paul called out another MMA fighter Nate Diaz and current boxing Super Middleweight World Champ Canelo Álvarez.
