HERO DELIVERY DRIVER SAVES MUM AFTER NOTICING STRANGE SMELL

BY VICTORIA WADLEY
An Asda delivery driver has been hailed as a hero for saving a vulnerable woman with his keen sense of smell.

The driver named only as Rodney who reportedly works at the Aintree Asda branch, was delivering shopping to the 67-year-old Jacqueline Seanor in Thornton, and told her that he could smell gas, which she confirmed she was unable to smell.

The incident took place on 11th December with Jacqueline immediately calling her daughter Michelle, to let her know what Rodney had told her. Michelle rapidly got in touch with Cadent, a gas emergency service who sent an engineer straight away.

The gas engineer who has been named as James ran some tests, and advised that the gas level was very high. He proceeded to turn off the gas completed his paperwork and placed Jaqueline at the top of the list as she is vulnerable. It is reported that James then went back to the office and came back with two heaters, a thick blanket, and some socks to keep her warm in this weather. He also brought her a hot plate as she told him her oven wasn't working.

Michelle has said of the incident:
"If it wasn't for Rodney and James my mum might not have been here right now if she lit a candle. She was already almost a goner as she was in hospital as blood clots got in her lungs."

Michelle has said the help of James and Rodney was 'invaluable' and she couldn't thank them enough for 'saving' her mum.

Fortunately Jacqueline did not require any medical help after Cadent's quick response
