Former US spy Anne Sacoolas avoids jail over death of teen motorcyclist Harry Dunn

FORMER US SPY ANNE SACOOLAS AVOIDS JAIL OVER DEATH OF TEEN MOTORCYCLIST HARRY DUNN

BY VICTORIA WADLEY
Former US spy Anne Sacoolas has been sentenced to eight months imprisonment suspended for 12 months for causing the death of teenage motorcyclist Harry Dunn by careless driving. The sentencing of the case at the Old Baileyhas been described as 'unprecedented'.

Sacoolas, 45, did not attend the hearing in person after US officials got involved. She was found guilty of driving her Volvo on the wrong side of the B4031 in Northamptonshire, a 40mph limit two lane road, when she hit Harry, 19, who was driving in the opposite direction.

The American left the UK in August 2019, claiming diplomatic immunity following the road traffic collision outside US military base RAF Croughton. Harrys grieving parents have faced a "torturous" three-year journey to seek justice for their son.
