BTS Star starts military service

BTS STAR STARTS MILITARY SERVICE

The oldest member of the BTS K-pop super group has confirmed he has commenced his 18 month mandatory military service in South Korea. The 30-year old confirmed his enrolment on an online fan platform and posted a photo of his new military buzzcut haircut, saying it 'looks cuter than I expected.'

Jin is the first of the group to commence the mandatory service, with the six other bandmates all due to follow suit in the coming year. The band member's have so far been reprieved however, the military service is compulsory for all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 in South Korea.

In 2020 it was announced that the upper age would be delayed for BTS, it was announced in October that all members of the group will serve their country. It has been reported by the band's management agency that the group will reconvene around 2025.

The success of the band peaked in 2019 when they made history as the first Korean group to play Wembley Stadium, with their first night selling out in 90 minutes. However in June this year they announced that they would be taking a break from the band to pursue solo projects.
