ARSENAL PLAYER PABLO MARI STABBED IN ITALY

Arsenal player Pablo Mari, who is currently on loan at Italian club Monza , was stabbed in the back last night in an attack that left 5 others injured and one person dead. Mari is preparing to have back surgery following the stabbing that happened in a supermarket in Milan. A 46-year old suspect was detained by police.

"Today I was lucky, because I saw a person die in front of me", he told Italian media.

Spanish defender Mari had been shopping with his wife and son at the time. Reportedly former Napoli player Massimo Tarantino was among those who immobilised and disarmed the attacker before police arrived.

"I'm not a hero. I didn't do anything special," 51-year-old Tarantino is quoted by the paper as saying.

His injuries are not suspected to be life threatening as the blade avoided any vital organs. Mari will undergo surgery on damaged muscles on Friday.
